The HKBU Mobile App (the “App”) is provided by Hong Kong Baptist University (“HKBU” or “we”), and all services accessed via this App are provided by HKBU. HKBU accesses, collects, uses, and shares information about you so that it can provide you with its information technology (IT) and related services. This App Privacy Policy sets out how HKBU accesses, collects, uses, and shares your information when you use this App, including information about the device on which the App is installed (for example, your mobile phone). The HKBU’s “Privacy Policy Statement and Personal Information Collection Statement” (“HKBU’s PPS & PICS”), which is accessible at https://ito.hkbu.edu.hk/hkbu-privacy-policy.html, also applies to the personal data accessed, collected, held, used, shared and/or processed etc. by HKBU in relation to your use or installation of the App.
HKBU shall take all reasonably practicable steps and implement appropriate security measures, including encryption and other various data protective measures at the hardware and software level of devices, to ensure that your personal data is protected against unauthorised or accidental access, processing or use.
HKBU shall take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure that your personal data will be retained in accordance with HKBU’s prevailing policies and no longer than is necessary for the fulfilment of the purposes for which it is collected or to which you have given consent, except for the purposes of fulfilling legal obligations or with subsisting reasons, in accordance with HKBU’s PPS & PICS. HKBU shall take all practicable steps to erase personal data that is no longer required for the purpose for which the data is used, unless erasure is prohibited by law or is not in the public interest.
The following table sets out the types of information that HKBU accesses and collects from your device, as well as how the information is used. In certain scenarios (for example, when we access your device’s camera, photo library, your location or your device’s Bluetooth), your permission will be sought before any access to the information.

| Your device’s Push notification | This allows you to receive notifications about HKBU’s news, events and activities etc. and/or you from the App. |
| Your device’s application information | This allows us to collect essential information about the device on which the App is installed, for the purposes of statistical analysis and/or auditing. |
In connection with relevant purposes, HKBU may disclose or transfer your personal information to HKBU’s internal departments and units, or third parties (such as third parties engaged by HKBU to provide services to HKBU and/or you, regulators and authorities, third parties with whom you have consented for HKBU to share your data, and/or third parties who have the right to access such data), in accordance with HKBU’s PPS & PICS.
